[Varian is, at least, pretty used to Usagi's utterly batshit powers that can wipe out a universe. Still, he does duck his head, closing his eyes to protect himself - expecting the bright, blinding light to come out of her.
It doesn't though, and he opens his eyes again in time to watch the crabs fall to pieces- Usagi's wounds healing as they did so. He turns to look at her, shining and...okay that's. ]
[Which part? She tilted her head. She could always heal ridiculously quickly, but... well, not THIS quick? She didn't think so anyway. And she always glowed when she used her powers, that was part of the whole... controlling light powers.
But... she was PRETTY SURE her blood didn't glow? Well, she guessed TECHNICALLY her blood glowed if her body glowed when she used her powers.
But not like this?
She shook her head and then shrugged. Honestly, Varian? She has no idea. At least not right now.
But that's not important. She gestures back to the light at the mouth of the cave.]
[Welp. That's... not comforting. But Usagi already has pretty wild powers. Maybe this is something new added to them? After all Deerington was very much pushing down on her abilities. Now they're free of the place, maybe more than usual has surged out?
Yeah. That makes sense. He nods at the mouth.]
Yeah, we need to get out of here. Maybe things'll be better once we're out in the light of day. Let's get going.
[Wild and only getting wilder with age and needs. Luna once told her the crystal could essentially DO anything. So far, she hadn't been wrong, not that Usagi had used it for mundane things like opening doors or lighting a fireplace, but who knew!
Anyway, that was neither here nor there.
With a bit more limping and carrying Varian along, they made it to the mouth of the cave and then finally managed to get outside of the cave. However, Usagi practically stumbled as they got onto the sand, nearly taking Varian with her but she managed to catch herself with a bit of flailing. She managed to right herself and began checking on Varian, seeing if he was hurt... well... more hurt.
She put a hand to her mouth in concern. If only she had gotten to him sooner.]
[Varian lets out a surprised yelp at the stumble- glad Usagi managed to right them because he sure as heck wouldn't have been able to. He catches her concern and frowns waving his arms at her to try and ease her concerns.]
Hey, hey. It's okay. I'm okay. See? No major injuries.
[He's going to glance her over- awkwardly because of the lack of clothes.]
I'm more worried about you, those crabs got you good.
[She bit her lip and then gave a small nod. They seriously needed to get him his prosthetic though...
At his question, she waved a dismissive hand and shook her head.
Which was a mistake.
Even though her body had healed the wounds, it was still working on the toxins. Which... was making the world tilt and Usagi was suddenly swaying. She put a hand to her head and had to take a step back.
Oh.
Oh, this... this might be bad.
Because she was pretty sure the sand wasn't blue and water but when she blinked it went back to being sand again and it kept shifting in and out on her.]
[One day, Varian will be aware of the effect the crabs had on some other bloodtypes and be glad he was saved from that mess. But that's a long way down the road- for now, he's confused over what is happening to her and is doing his best to keep her steady.
It's not working so well, given he kind of needs her to keep HIM steady, so they're definitely...wobbling, which probably isn't helping. He opts instead to try and ease them to the sand. ]
She fell onto her bottom without even a warning. But then she was trying to scramble back up again and push things off her legs because the sand grains shifted into hundreds of thousands of bugs all along her arms and legs from where the sand clung and she was trying to push and scratch them off. Anything to get the bugs away and off!
She was beginning to panic as she took her nails to her legs and hips and the more she scratched the redder her legs became, beginning to dig in to her flesh.]
[Okay this... is deeply worrying and Varian's not entirely sure what to do with this. Usagi is clearly seeing something that's not there- and he definitely doesn't want her to hurt herself more- so he reaches out, grabbing tightly to her wrists and pulling them away from her legs. There's a scared edge to his voice making it a lot firmer than usual. ]
Usagi, stop! You're gonna hurt yourself. Come on, focus on me, there's nothing there.
[Even in a state of hallucination, Usagi would never hurt someone she loved and Varian was one of her precious people.
She's panting and her eyes are following millions of bugs because there is just sand EVERYWHERE but his hands feel cool and it's something other than her own untrustworthy vision.
She makes a noise and it's akin to a stifled wail, unable to express what she can see, unable to explain. But she tries to push through and while the world spins when she lifts her head, it at least causes her to tear her vision away from her own body.
Usagi takes a deep breath, watching as Varian's hair stripe turns into a snake and then back into a stripe again.
How come he can't see them? Are they really not there? She swallows.]
Vvv [Is the only sound she can actually form and nothing else.]
[The fact Usagi is still panicking is doing very little to ease Varian's worry. His hands might be cool, but the air around them warms up in response to his growing distress. If he knew about the hair stripe snake, he probably would have freaked out enough to actually set fire to something. That is not a memory he wants to revisit for the entirety of his existence, thank you.
He squeezes her hands, slowing his own breathing, trying to make it obvious- so she can follow his lead. ]
C'mon. Just...breathe deep with me, okay? In....and out. There's nothing here. Just me and you and the sand.
[Usagi tried to listen. At first, the breaths were shallow and then she was able to swallow them, taking her time, her heartbeat slowing. She was okay. They were okay. Just sand, no bugs, no hair snake, just her and Varian, and a beach. She was shaking and she closed her eyes, trying to stop her mind from tilting and she had to rest her head on his shoulder.
Being able to talk would be REALLY GREAT RIGHT NOW!.
She took several more breaths in time with Varian's and when she peeked one eye open and saw some of the bugs turn into specks of sand, she kept them closed and just kept breathing.
She was okay, they were okay, they were safe, they were fine. Please let them be fine.]
[Varian keeps on with his breathing, one hand releases hers so it can go to her back, rubbing soothing circles between her shoulder blades. Worry still grips his chest tightly- something is clearly very wrong here and he doesn't know how to stop whatever's happening to her. All he can do is try to be a stable weight for her to anchor herself to and hope she can ride out this storm going on inside her head.
He tries to keep his tone calm, quiet- doing his best to keep the worry out of it. ]
[He doesn't care how long they're there for. They can be there until the sun sets and rises again in the sky a hundred times over if it means it's helped her in any way. Eventually, though, she does open her eyes, and he echoes her smile with one of his own. ]

When she finally did manage to open them again, the world wasn't tilting and more still, the bugs were gone. She let out a breath.
