[Even in a state of hallucination, Usagi would never hurt someone she loved and Varian was one of her precious people.
She's panting and her eyes are following millions of bugs because there is just sand EVERYWHERE but his hands feel cool and it's something other than her own untrustworthy vision.
She makes a noise and it's akin to a stifled wail, unable to express what she can see, unable to explain. But she tries to push through and while the world spins when she lifts her head, it at least causes her to tear her vision away from her own body.
Usagi takes a deep breath, watching as Varian's hair stripe turns into a snake and then back into a stripe again.
How come he can't see them? Are they really not there? She swallows.]
Vvv [Is the only sound she can actually form and nothing else.]
[The fact Usagi is still panicking is doing very little to ease Varian's worry. His hands might be cool, but the air around them warms up in response to his growing distress. If he knew about the hair stripe snake, he probably would have freaked out enough to actually set fire to something. That is not a memory he wants to revisit for the entirety of his existence, thank you.
He squeezes her hands, slowing his own breathing, trying to make it obvious- so she can follow his lead. ]
C'mon. Just...breathe deep with me, okay? In....and out. There's nothing here. Just me and you and the sand.
[Usagi tried to listen. At first, the breaths were shallow and then she was able to swallow them, taking her time, her heartbeat slowing. She was okay. They were okay. Just sand, no bugs, no hair snake, just her and Varian, and a beach. She was shaking and she closed her eyes, trying to stop her mind from tilting and she had to rest her head on his shoulder.
Being able to talk would be REALLY GREAT RIGHT NOW!.
She took several more breaths in time with Varian's and when she peeked one eye open and saw some of the bugs turn into specks of sand, she kept them closed and just kept breathing.
She was okay, they were okay, they were safe, they were fine. Please let them be fine.]
[Varian keeps on with his breathing, one hand releases hers so it can go to her back, rubbing soothing circles between her shoulder blades. Worry still grips his chest tightly- something is clearly very wrong here and he doesn't know how to stop whatever's happening to her. All he can do is try to be a stable weight for her to anchor herself to and hope she can ride out this storm going on inside her head.
He tries to keep his tone calm, quiet- doing his best to keep the worry out of it. ]
[He doesn't care how long they're there for. They can be there until the sun sets and rises again in the sky a hundred times over if it means it's helped her in any way. Eventually, though, she does open her eyes, and he echoes her smile with one of his own. ]

At some point, she had closed her eyes.
When she finally did manage to open them again, the world wasn't tilting and more still, the bugs were gone. She let out a breath.
Usagi offered a shakey smile to him, things were mostly better.]
