Mod Announcement - AC Rule Change

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello everyone! After the issuance of an apology by our AC mod in the last AC results post, we received feedback that asked us if we could re-evaluate our rule on backdated threads needing to be from within the last 3 months. The request asked us for the reasoning behind the original rule and stated that they were concerned it was encouraging people to drop threads when they get too old to continue to count for AC.

Our original rule was implemented back in Deerington Chapter 1, when we were trying to figure out how to allow backtags for bonus AC, while still being fair to concerns from players who didn't want people piling up bonus points from old threads and neglecting to participate in current events. Given that Chapter 2 no longer has bonus AC, this has become less of an issue. We agree that the three month limit is confusing for both players and the AC team.

After discussing as a team, we agreed that we should get rid of the time limit. However, we also feel that in order to keep the integrity of the game, the events, and the faster paced environment, it is still necessary to make sure that players aren't solely relying on backdated threads for activity, and are showing that they are able to keep up with the current activities in Deer Country. We believe we've come up with a new AC rule that covers these concerns while also being simpler for both players and the AC team.

The proposed new rule on backtags is as follows:

Backdated threads may be used for one activity proof. If you are using multiple threads for one proof, each thread must have a minimum of 3 comments made by your character from the current activity month. The other proof must be from a thread started in the current AC period.

As a reminder, 1 proof of activity is 5 log comments or 10 network comments.

EXAMPLE:

- AC LINK ONE (3 log comments, backdated)
- AC LINK TWO (4 log comments, backdated)
- AC LINK THREE (10 network comments, current)

This change would go live for July AC. If you have any questions or feedback, please leave them on this post, and we will get back to everybody as quickly as we can.

So I have been prone to doing catch-all posts rather than putting up top levels in the event logs, since I do so many closed starters, and often I'll just use the same one for a few months to avoid clutter. With this new rule, say, for example, I have a post clearly marked as a catch-all for "the summer" or "June into July", posted in June. If I started a new thread within that post that was started in July and marked as taking place ICly in July, would it count as a current thread, even though the post itself went up in June?

Or, to avoid this, would you prefer fresh catch-alls every month, for those of us who use them?
