Hey, everyone! It's Cheryl bringing you a player-plot for the month of June! We're doing The Great Paleblood Bake Off!
Luna, noticing the ability Palebloods have this month, will take to the network offering to organise a baking competition in the style of The Great British Bake Off (she's a fan) for Palebloods using the fruit around Trench to make Corruption/Beasthood healing food to be then shared around the Sleepers.
She will propose the idea to Sleepers and ask for sign ups for the competition itself, along with asking for help from other Blood Types in helping to set the whole thing up ie: Darkbloods could help with set building, Warmbloods could offer lessons to some Palebloods; people will be needed for collecting ingredients, judging, presenting, etc.
WHAT AM I DOING?
Much of the set-up is something more of 'player discretion' kind of thing, to give some prompts for threads. Go out and have some fun doing threads outside of the actual event having lessons with a Warmblood, supporting your Paleblood friends and family in the midst of a baking meltdown. Maybe have a nice collecting thread, or Darkbloods arguing over set design.
The event itself will be post mid-to-late June and will basically be baking chaos set over the last week of June. Participants will be asked to bake a dessert of some sort which contains the fruits found in Trench to a Remina-month inspired prompt. The prompts will be as follows, which will be released well a head of the time, so players can use the month to prepare:
DAY ONE: a dessert that reminds you of home
DAY TWO: a dessert you learned from someone else
DAY THREE, THE FINAL: a dessert relevant to your culture
Banter with the presenters, sabotage your fellow contestants, make up your own baking distasters, go cry in a corner over curdled custard, be pepped up by your friends in the audience, terrify the judges with your ruthless need to win.
The idea is this thing is just some wholesome, silly bit of fun. Someone gets a nice trophy, and everyone gets some delicious food to take home to help fight off Corruption / Beasthood, which will be magically charmed to keep for up to six months.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
The actual event will be depending on how many sign up. Granted there are currently roughly 50 Palebloods in game, it may be a case of forming morning and afternoon groups and either RNG or going off a player discrection basis on who advances to the next day. If your character isn't a very good baker, chances are they're out on Day 1 — that sort of thing. On the final day would be something like eight Sleepers taking part.
Once I get to know the idea of numbers better, I can put a more solid plan in place and will put up a new post to explain things better later on.

Palebloods will find themselves even more strongly drawn to the fruit than other blood types. While this could put them at risk during the event, it might be well worth it in the end. They will want to cook with fruit, bake with fruit, make jam, and will try to pass it out to others. Anything they bake with the fruit will be emotionally healing to others and can even help to rid another of corruption or turn them back from beasthood. These goods can be preserved in full for up to 6 months. Jams specifically can be preserved for up to one year.

Skill level: Luna's better at cooking meals, but she's a pretty decent baker. She cooks and bakes a lot at home, usually relatively simple things and sticks to recipes she knows for the most part. So she's simple, but consistently good. I'd probably give her a solid 3.5 / 5 in terms of ability. Good enough to get her through into Day Two, but maybe not into the final.

Skill level: 3-3.5. Paul's strengths lie in precise execution of household baking techniques he's been practicing since he was dragged for being bad at food preparation. This may bump to a 4 as he obsesses over the contest. His weaknesses are a lack of knowledge of more showstopping techniques and the possibility of stress-related flipping out.

Skill level: Wrench's skill is probably around a 2.5 and I don't expect him to stay in the competition for very long. He's going to be helping out with the preparations and much more invested in helping his fellow bakers, but I wanted to reserve space to throw him in for a round or two. I'm more than glad to sacrifice him as the "first out" and then move him to supporting fellow bakers. My interest is mostly in seeing if he can combine some of the herbs he's been cultivating with special magical properties into baked goods that have additional elemental qualities.

She has a rough idea of what to do and can follow a recipe without diverging, but anything too complicated is going to result in all sorts of things splitting, curdling, or burning. She likely won't make it past Day 1? Or if she does it's pure dumb luck.

Skill level: 1.5/5 - So...if Ryan really focuses and tries really hard to stay on task, he can follow a recipe. He has canonically successfully made brownies on at least one occasion. However, a baking competition is not exactly the ideal circumstances for focus and concentration. To put it simply, everyone else is playing Great British Bake Off and Ryan is playing Nailed It! - it will be a miracle if he finishes a dish AND it's edible AND it's presentable. He will probably try and present whatever he makes with fake confidence and claim that it deserves points for creativity.
It does not. He's full of shit. Look at this horrible monstrosity of a strawberry chiffon cake he also canonically made once. There are whole eggs with the shell still on in that thing. There's no way he's making it past day one. But also, per the mods - technically his terrible food still gives the relief from corruption...though that doesn't mean it will be good, or that it won't turn your stomach. Sorry, judges.

Skill level: a very dedicated novice!!! sansa comes from a world where baking is a specialist profession, at least on the levels that she's used to, but she's been determinedly baking cake since her first few weeks in trench and is working very hard on learning pies!! this month will see a big jump in her skill level as she practices quite a lot, but she will not get the hang of yeast-risen bread (or anything, really...) without a lot of help
in terms of versatility she's like a 2 but in terms of practicing and executing a dish she knows well she's closer to a 3.75-4.

Skill level: Chizuru is probably at a 3.5 to a 4? She's definitely not a professional baker, but is a cooking expert due to having to provide food for warriors all the time back home.. Her weakness is that baking is relatively more new than cooking for her, especially with the equipment available here in Trench, but she's been practicing a lot with it ever since showing up here! I'd call her skillful, but easily sabotaged or beaten by someone more professional than her.

Oscar Pine is a farmlad who is from a stress cooking/ casserole baking type of background. If it's full of carbs and unhealthy stuff, served warm and in a dish, then he's probably made it. He also periodically cooks food for parties that his CR is involved with, so he ICly feels it's not appropriate to actually join the competition.
That, and he's got no wish to compete against Dipper.
