Oscar Pine is a farmlad who is from a stress cooking/ casserole baking type of background. If it's full of carbs and unhealthy stuff, served warm and in a dish, then he's probably made it. He also periodically cooks food for parties that his CR is involved with, so he ICly feels it's not appropriate to actually join the competition.
That, and he's got no wish to compete against Dipper.
So if anyone is struggling with something or needs help, he's more than glad to! He's also more than glad to whip out the extinguisher on any kitchen fires that may pop up with this.
