Mostly because Ange guesses she can't really bring up a good argument against that. It's true, their bodies changed.. so why wouldn't other things about them change as well?
Even if this is a really weird new thing. Even compared to the squid thing. ]
Have you seen anyone else being able to do this? I haven't.
[ Which seems weird. If they all turned into squid-like beings, then shouldn't they all have gained the same powers as well? ]
[ At least she can admit to that. If it really is some ability to project images into another's mind, or to recall things that you've never seen yourself, it's not something that can hurt, she supposes. It's not even the idea of magic or special abilities to itself that's weird to Ange. She's a witch, after all.
But something about this still feels odd, and she can't quite put her finger on it.
She glances over at Wu though, seeing that slightly wilted look on his face. ]
But.. [ She pauses, seeming to think about her words. ] Are you okay though?
[ Wu glances up at her, and he does look a little frantic. He wrings his hands together, trying to figure out the answer to that question. Normally, he'd have one right away, but right now... ]
I, I don't know. No? Not really. I'm kind of freaked out, if I'm being honest! I thought we'd end up somewhere, somewhere nice, after Deerington. Somewhere safe, but I've already been in danger, strange things are happening to our bodies, and this place-- everyone's nice so far, but there's an air here, isn't there? Like something's wrong.
[ He does seem kind of freaked out - and Ange can't blame him. Especially since she agrees with every single word of what he's saying. It is all really weird, and especially jarring, considering them leaving the other place kind of felt like they were going to leave all this weirdness beyond.
Only to be dumped straight into more of it. ]
Yeah, I know. There's suddenly a lot going on. [ To put it lightly. Ange frowns, but then shakes her head. ] And it doesn't exactly sit right with me either, but.. at least we're all still in this together, right?
[ It might be a tad more optimistic than she has been before, but she has reasons to be a bit more optimistic now. Not being alone means a whole lot to her. ]
We can all figure out what's going on together. And keep each other safe, in case there ends up being more danger. I'd help you out if you were in trouble, you know.
[ Wu looks up at her with big, sad eyes. It is comforting, it sets something at ease within him. He has people here. He has friends. Even Ange, who he doesn't know that well, but who's so important to so many of his friends, says that she'll help him.
That means a lot. It means a lot and Wu can't express how grateful he is, at least not well. And she doesn't really like hugs, but that's never stopped Wu before, so Ange, have a hug, with spindly arms wrapping around her, and the press of Wu's feeling of gratitude traveling across the embrace ]
Thank you. Thank you! That, that means so much to me, Ange. I'm so glad that you're here, and if I can ever help you, too, you let me know! I can't fight, and I don't have the safe house anymore, but I'll find some way that I can help. And, and we are in this together.
[ The only thing she has time for before those arms are already locking around her is letting out that slight sound of surprise, more a sputter than anything else.
You'd think she would have gotten used to sudden hugs, considering who she spends a lot of time around, yet.. alas, it seems like hugs still get the same reaction from her. The same sputter, the same fluster, though she doesn't try to escape the contact either. ]
Ah, geez.. [ She instead settles on saying, sounding clearly embarrassed. ] Is this supposed to be a form of help too?
[ Wu laughs, holding onto her for another moment. She might actually feel better, if Ange was anxious or stressed. Wu's powers bleed out through touch, and through hugs, he radiates calm ]
Hugs are always helpful! Boy.
[ He pulls back with a soft smile, feeling even more grateful for the friends he has here. It really makes all the difference, even if he isn't quite sure where "here" is ]
We're going to figure this out. We are! Us Sleepers, we always do. Right, Ange?
[ It's a weird mixture of feelings. There's the fluster the hug brings, which is a bit of stress in and of itself, but at the same time it somehow does manage to relieve the stress that was already present in Ange's mind. The worry about her friends, and the display of that strange power just now..
Somehow her mind feels okay with shelving all of it, at least for a few more moments.
At least for right now.
(Thanks, Wu's healing hugs.) ]
I guess we always did before.
[ Figure things out. Even if it took them a long while to find a way out of Deerington. But they did it in the end, right? Sure, with some help, but still..
She releases a breath, and then shakes her head. Her cheeks are still kind of pink, but she doesn't look too fussed anymore. ]

[ He looks around for anyone else they know but-- doesn't see anyone. He wilts a little. ]
It's weird, it's weird, but not dangerous. Right? It's just a little telepathy! Like in the movers!

[ To what? He doesn't know. He probably will never know, but he's moving forward, and they're moving forward together, as a community.
He can't help but smile, grateful that they're back together, all of them, even if it's in this strange place. ]
