[Perhaps he's glimpsed the tall stranger about the town in Sodder's nightmare, perhaps they spoke briefly on the network. Mako's discomfort and that straightening up quietly amuse the tall stranger, but he's careful not to let it show.]

In cephalopod form? I did, in fact, though it took several tries. The sea seemed to want me back in it's bosom for reasons I'm puzzling over, though I suspect the powers in this place are as unpredictable as they were in the dream that shaped this world's reality.

[He might peer at Mako.]

Are you new to this world or were you part of that dream as well?

[ In a town so small it's hard not to notice faces, although Mako always did his best to keep off the network except in times of emergency. ]

I was in the dream. I'm trying to figure out exactly what this reality is. Anything else happen before you wash up? Why was it hard?

[Perhaps he spotted the black-clad man in the stacks of the Library, perusing the books on the paranormal, perhaps he's seen him in Hart Mart. He might have been elusive during his days in Deerington, but once seen he was likely hard to miss.]

That's rather a loaded question, or rather, a comprehensive answer is. Are you referring to what transpired between the end of the dream and my awakening in this place or something closer to this place? At this point, I'd say that my mind and being struggled to adjust to the change of space and thus the sea recalled me more than once, till I finally adapted. Generally, I'm a quick study on a new environment, but perhaps being reshaped into a squid and rebirthing from that primal form proved more than my system could handle at once.

[He might take a swing from the bottle, possibly moistening his throat against a lengthy answer.]

If I had to hypothesize, I would say this world is the reality which Sodder's dream shaped, the space outside the covers of the book, as it were, with the contents of the book being the dream we experienced. She was powerful, perhaps even moreso for her dual heritage. There was something revealed in the realm of Mother Superior which hinted at things to come: a world, a planet even, encased in a caul, like something immense waiting to be born. It suggested that her dream was more than a metaphysical space, but a physical one as well. I'm gathering this place is that waking space, waiting to break from that caul.
