Player Plot: Storms & Souls

Hello, everyone! Here's some chaos to kick off vengeance month.

The Town-wide Impact

• On July 5th, a major thunderstorm hits. Massive waves threaten the Boardwalk, and the rain constantly shifts from boiling-hot to ice-cold. Mariana is angry.
  
  
• For the rest of July, powers relating to life, death, and spirit may be warped. These powers could become uncontrollable or develop unusual side effects. The details are up to you and this is fully optional.
  
  
• For the rest of July, anyone who dies and respawns might come back wrong. They could have amnesia, bodyswap with another character, or they could respawn as a ghost without a body at all. Again, this is optional.

The Small-party Impact

• On July 5th, John (the Emperor) takes some close CR out to sea to fuck with Mariana. He will pressure his CR to complete the ritual murder of some NPC pirates, and it will kick off CR conflict.
  
  
• Mariana will punish him with a raging storm! Waves batter the ship and marine Beasts swarm in a fury. The ship will sink and characters will continue their fight on the shore.
  
  
• Some of the involved characters will die or be heavily corrupted. This can create cycles of revenge which echo throughout July.

The Fallout & Conclusion

• If anyone would like to soothe Mariana, please do. Through visions - or interrogation of the bone squad - you may come to understand that John tried to metaphysically trespass on Mariana's domain.
  
  
• If your character is going to come back wrong, the effects can last as long as you want. If your character needs help to resolve the symptoms, say so in the comments!
  
  
• Likewise, if you play a character who can stabilize soul problems, say so in the comments!

Optional Reading: Why Is This Happening?

• John will tell everyone he wants to research the origins of Sleepers by using his powers to explore the reincarnation sea. He may be able to sense Sleeper squid that are currently sleeping, and let you know whether your loved ones are down there; maybe he can even wake them up.
  
  
• John will tell castmates that he hopes to sense the River, the afterlife-space from his canon. Maybe he can find a way to travel it. (He will not admit that he's been separated from half his soul, and he wants her back so that he can once again be a full-fledged god.)
  
  
• John will tell no one that he wants Mariana out of the way because she keeps blocking him from interacting with the soul of the planet itself. (If he could, it would be good for him but bad for probably everything else.)

Affected powers: not so much a power as it is..... falco's spiritual eldritch parasite being given a free pass? coming back from death with a big problem? my jam
Intended outcome:

a:not so much a concrete plan as it is just an idea i'd like to play with! on top of the reckoning's influence the boy may have major mood swings that he will not be immediately sorry for :'( more explosive, impatient, emotional, aggressive toward threats, mmmmmaybe possession episodes? more prone to remember/form grudges, and a lack of forgiveness. the silence is riled and trying to "protect" its host the wrong way (or the only way it knows how).

b: i'd somehow like to take advantage of the "comes back wrong" feature of this plot through death (to tie into a word-building finding in the near future, see below!!) that may even be so lowkey depending not many people may notice. or, notice, have your heart hurt more than it already will! not so much looking for someone to kill him as someone to trigger him into using his jaw titan for whatever reason, since flight is handy! that is, if you're not in the pthlumerian sky! i need him shot down by sky pthlumerians. that's it. so that he can come back wrong and in the body he died in: giant wark! he'll be stuck that way for the rest of july until this is all fixed with mariana, with the silence less razzled depending on the person, so he'll most likely, like. stay hidden in the caves by the rocks because he's too big to walk around trench or go home 😭 plus he's kind of dangerous if he gets ticked off! during this time, feel free to consider him missing/not responding to messages that aren't from perle, because he will be! this is all because—

c: i got some neat info about the rocks near the black shore!! so i needed a reason for falco to be there consistently and excavate (mostly just to pass the time)— he'll be finding a lot of neat and rare minerals, and oh trench exclusive stones and fossils!! in the end he's going to use these stones to pay tribute to the sky pthlumerian who shot him down (and will eventually form a bond with it to gain safe passage thru the sky)!!!! he won't tell anyone what his findings are for, but others are welcomed to find their own stones/fossils and do with them as you will. if you're interested, i'm planning to make an open this for that with stone/fossil descriptions!

CR or threads you're seeking: well some cr is on that boat and he will be devastated about what happened to the point that his purple slime is going to take the wheel and SPIT MAD TRUTHS if provoked! someone to get falco to fly and just have shot down like dany's dragons, or like. find the beached, decaying body that is not whale before it evaporates and leaves [redacted]. anyone want to interact with said giant bird in a cave or look for a missing child at some point (and find the bird instead), this is also a thing to do. if people are into fossils and having a jurassic park phase, come forth!

i made new angy icons with the occasion in mind......!!! 👀 would this be the actual first time they'd get to talk face to face after boat disaster? because if that's what you're thinking boy would paul have a very large pain in the heart coming! and a scary slap on the wrist! what are your prefs?

I think it probably would be, timeline wise? Paul has a lot to scramble around doing immediately post-beach, but lmk what works best for you!

heehee……hoohoo……… with my plans involving death by sky and anna, this is the way. he’s stuck like this from the 6th onwards, so let’s roughly stick to beach/rocks/cave finding as the first talkie!
