april player plot: Leon's Terrible Horrible No-Good Very Bad Day Redux
hi everyone! here's a fun little player plot for April, courtesy of the Resident Evil world's worrying tendency to churn out terrifying super-zombies for the purpose of making certain people rich and/or immortal and/or super-powered via mad science!
meet Mr. X. (video in link contains gore and violence and zombies, as per usual for RE.) that's not actually its name, it's called T-00 and it's a Tyrant, which is a kind of super-zombie that cannot be easily taken down, and it's going to come through a portal in Lumenwood with one goal: eliminate all possible witnesses to Umbrella's crimes. which means that anyone who crosses into its path could very easily become a target, in which case it will hunt you right down and try its absolute hardest to kill you. you can stun it and get away, but it takes a lot of ammunition and power to even slow it down for a bit. and that's with the limiter coat on.
but good news, it can be killed! how? we'll get back to that later, but for now here's the deal.
how did this thing get into Trench and do we know it's here?
April event's portals are going to let through a few Resident Evil monsters here and there. most of them range from "meh, easy" to "difficult to put down but doable", but the Tyrant is the only one that's going to be downright impossible to take out without serious firepower. like, anti-tank weaponry kind of firepower. and if you get too close to it you risk getting your skull punched inward.
for this stage, I need volunteers for getting almost or outright murdered via Mr. X! Leon obviously will be doing his best to keep the Tyrant from killing people, but he's just one unenhanced guy and Mr. X gave him a shitload of trouble when he was young and spry and idealistic back in 1998. there will be a post at some point in April, I'd say over this or next weekend or so, alerting everyone to the Tyrant's presence and asking for assistance, which leads to:
how do we kill this thing?
idk do we have a rocket launcher.
I'm kidding! while we don't have a rocket launcher thrown to us by a friendly enemy (sadly for Leon), Sleepers do have a huge array of abilities of weapons that can at least stagger the thing. but taking him down is going to be a two-phase thing and it is going to need a great deal of coordination.
PHASE ONE: luring the Tyrant into a staging area and attacking it with powerful attacks + weapons + whatever you can throw at it. whoever will be doing the luring runs the risk of being seriously injured, as even with the limiter coat it still punches like a freight train. it’s also very strong, and Damnation shows us that even with a limiter on, it can catch fucking rockets. so like. be prepared to have your powerful projectile weapon thrown back at you.
I imagine that in the onslaught of attacks, the coat is sure to get burned off somehow. which is when we enter the second phase.
PHASE TWO: killing the Tyrant. which is not going to be easy, because now that the limiter’s off, the damn thing will mutate its arms into giant claws. those claws can and will tear anyone who accidentally gets close right the fuck open, and it will try to get close, so anyone who gets in range has to keep moving. the thing can move fast when it’s pissed and headshots do nothing.
however, here’s one bit of good news - its heart is fully exposed right there on its chest, and if you do enough damage to it you can stagger it so you can unleash a powerful attack that will blow it to bits. and blowing it to bits seems like the only way to ensure it’s put down for good. but that’s easier said than done - once again, the thing can catch rockets, so you’re going to need to either distract it so an ally can get in a hugely powerful attack, or just. throw an attack that's powerful enough that it can't be caught.
I know everybody's gonna be busy this month, so reply to the below comment entitled BOSS FIGHT PARTICIPANTS with the form below so I can gauge interest and plan the big fight appropriately! it goes without saying that obviously Mr. X will be available as a recurring NPC for your characters to encounter until the end of April thereabouts, this is just to gauge who wants to get in on Blowing Up A Big Monster.
barring any real-life problems, RNG-ing for the final blow will take place on Monday the 18th, and the big boss fight will ICly be happening April 29-30. I say ICly, bc it's likely that the log will go up either before or after that date. expect it, at the very latest, on say, May 5.

What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? Depending on who is calling the shots (Leon sir?? SIR???), he can take point and lead it to the staging area playing cat n mouse w lasers, and if need be run in and be an incendiary to help get folks in danger clear

Trench: Blood healing, anti-coagulation
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? Dito's pretty much a DPS class by nature, so most of his time in the battle will be spent doling out the 3 D's: Damage, Distraction, and Disorientation. Leave the frontal attacks to the heavy hitters.
Do you want your character to get the final blow? Y/N. Sure, why not-- if RNJesus smiles upon me I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm also not gonna mind if it doesn't work out that way. You never wanna go above and beyond when you're doing a job, otherwise people will just start to expect that amount of effort from you.

Oo, pick me!
Character Abilities: Gaia can create short range portals, she also has a fancy hammer (Which doesn't sound much but it's from FFXIV, soooo) and some time magic and fire. (Can cause 'timebomb' delays for instance!). Her darkblood allows for telekinesis and time manipulation (sort of complimenting her native skills, adding things like slowing and speeding up time). She won't be admitting to creation magic stuff openly and what level she has of it. (More of a native power than a darkblood one at the moment).
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? Gaia is a teenager. She's a sensible one and will listen to suggestions about how best she can be involved. But she's teenager enough that she'll have that tiny bit of 'don't treat me like a teenager' vibe. XD
Her methods would be to contribute largely to 'cc', e.g. slowing/speeding time, time-bomb type attacks and using telekinesis to her advantage (lure him under loose rocks, drop those rocks on Mr. X, etc). If cornered or if seeing someone else cornered, she would probably try to teleport over and deliver a hammer blow to 'distract' Mr. X. Probably much more effective than 'skinny rich goth girl looking 16 year old with a hammer' would seem. But definitely not a TKO thing when it's something like Mr. X and she would possibly get in trouble.
Do you want your character to get the final blow? N, she had her glory moment on her world a time or two, she doesn't need to hog it here.
As a further note, totally down for Mr. X locking onto her early too. Any cool things would be good. :D

Character Abilities: NONE..... lmfaooooo. She has no canon abilities and is a mere Warmblood here. BUT she is a fellow Survival Horror Protag who has survived the hells of Silent Hill, and I love the thought of her meeting the Resident Evils!
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? Pretty much the only thing she'd be capable of doing is acting as a lure or bait, and trying to help protect the others as much as she can. Rose wouldn't hesitate to jump in front of of someone and try to protect them (ironically... she'll probably be the weakest one here.... but she's forever A Mom). She walked into literal Hell once to get her own daughter out, and that determination is a huge part of her character. I'm totally down for her getting killed in the process since that would probably,,, realistically happen,,,, though maybe she has a close call and someone saves her butt, I'm flexible, etc.

Character Abilities: Super speed, super strength, rapid healing factor and also his blood is toxic rather than literally virulent.
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? He'll largely be in a support role as a healer, as I'm figuring he managed to recover three Health Sprays from the portal, plus someone has to dart in and grab an injured Sleeper to get them the hell out of there. But he'll get a few shots or well-placed punches in on the beast, possibly tossing in a large glass jar of Vileblood in for good measure.
Do you want your character to get the final blow? He doesn't deserve to get the final blow. /evil laugh/

Character Abilities: Hahahahaaaa Does hitting you with a lawsuit count? No? Inaccurate tongue twisters? Not helpful. This boy can: use a sword (with an odd distance if cutting a prosecutor's hair from the *opposite bench* is anything to go by), move quickly, dodge well enough due to martial arts training. He will be a bit too bewildered by more modern firearms (hello from the 1890s) to be useful there, even if he's offered one. Basically, he's good bait!
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? He will actively help with strategizing, work to lure Mr. X

What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? actively trying to kill it up close by either trying to choke him or picking up the biggest objects he can find to throw at him. lets drop a building on him that's almost like a rocket launcher

Character Abilities: Blood powers are mostly around astral projection and some mind gleaming. Her real power is her magical glyphs (light, ice, plant, fire and what they make through various combinations) as well as being able to ride the staff she has.
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? She'd be trying to help set up to get him in a spot where he could be taken out!
Do you want your character to get the final blow? Actually, I was kind of thinking Mr. X kills Luz, thereby giving Luz her first death. Is that ok?

Character Abilities: her canon power is to become intangible, though not without a lot of effort in Trench which can lead to painful headaches, nosebleeds, etc. though, she'd likely go at it as a ranged fighter using her Coldblood fire, ice, and lightning
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? attempting to burninate, freezinate, or lightninginate it into dust

Character Abilities: Wields fire in various ways, channeling it into his weapon, and can throw a blazing phoenix to burn and knock back an opponent. Trench wise he can make ice walls, sheets of ice to control enemy movement. Or enhance weaponry with ice. Or restrain an opponent with ice chains.
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? He's solid in helping build a plan, offer cover for gunners or anyone ranged, and in general fight or aid others via support. He can hit hard when on the field. So he'll follow direction from whoever is calling the shots and offer his input.
Do you want your character to get the final blow? Sure, but absolutely not fussed about it either.

Character Abilities: Sith Lord Dark Side powers, per canon, and he's able to yank corruption out of anyone who might gain it by participating in the battle.
What will they be doing to take out Mr. X? Maul will be using his powers to generally just try and slow this thing down. Bring down a building on it, chuck large pieces of debris, things like that since getting up close and personal with his lightsaber seems like a bad idea.
