Honestly same with Allen! His whole identity is bound up in fighting in order to save the souls of supposed monsters. So the idea of NOT fighting is strange to him, but destroying just to destroy, or to kill another -- he just doesn't do it and tries to deus ex machina his way out of situations that try to force it. Or sacrifice himself.

But he was also originally a street performing clown before all that shit happened, and at his core if he didn't have to fight just wants to do "things that make people smile" like that again. And here that actually helps reduce the corruption that causes monsters. So yeah. LET'S WALK THAT FINE LINE OF WANTING TO DO GOOD OUR OWN WAY, SCREW WHAT POWERS THAT BE SAY. #shounen

But at least, he doesn't try to self-sacrifice even though he might do dumb shit sometimes to save people but that's bc it's his duty and he's trained.

Lmao, Shouto is definitely the more rational and logical of the two for sure. Allen isn't stupid, he's one of the smarter and more savvy shounen protags actually, but man he has very little self worth and can be really impulsive. Zero training beyond "don't die, stupid", all instinct LOL. But that's also why it could be a really fun conversation/dynamic.

LMAOOOO DGM ORIGIN TALES... man it just kept/keeps getting worse and worse and more insane the further it's gone on. (Or better and better, depending how you look at it.) The current arc is the one that's finally revealed the truth of Allen's backstory in the circus, and it's worse than we were ever prepared for and is just a giant series of nightmare fuel content warnings.

But Allen is an empathy monster so buckle up mister he will eventually find a way to make you smile. HE EVEN GOT KANDA TO SMILE, LMAO DAMNIT.
