And then that bead of ice blue blood appears and he lets out a soft breath, but then blinks in some surprise when Keith's reaction is to shove it in his mouth. Well, okay, that's actually a pretty normal reaction to a bleeding cut on one's finger, it's just not one he ever pictured Keith having for some reason.
It's weird to think that even after all they've been through, there's still little things like this that surprise him. And that reflection has his emotion box cracking and sending a vice to clamp on his heart. He looks away quickly with a grimace and teeth clenched so tight that there's a fluttering muscle in the side of his cheek.
