Property Damage Ahead

Hey everyone!

This is mainly a heads up that Shade, Vette and myself are plotting a big blow-out fight at the end of the month involving Lance (azurestar) and Maul (survivalthroughhate). It will last for 3 days from October 31st to November 2nd, and there will be a lot of property damage to the city, primarily in the area of Prufrock and perhaps neighboring districts.

Context: Lance will be killing Reaper at The Gate while the blood moon and blood sport is still going. Lance will then victoriously post about it on the Network because there's a complicated history between him and Reaper and bloodsport's still got a grip on his brain. Maul will see it and try to kill him for 3 days straight because Reaper is bae, but Lance will not want anyone else to die so he'll just be trying to hold Maul off with his powers until he gets it out of his system and they are more or less this gif by the end:



The intention is to have them fight to exhaustion with no casualties (besides Reaper ig). We were discussing leaving this open for other characters to interact with since it is going to last for a chunk of time, so that is why this post exists. Though both characters will insist others stay out of it in their own ways, for their own reasons, if you'd like your character to try getting involved or have commentary/a conversation with them during their fight, then why not?

If you want to discuss how your character will react to/interact with this absurdity and how we can incorporate that while still reaching the end of the fight with no casualties, or you want to make a case for getting your character caught in the crossfire, OR you want your property to be a casualty, then please discuss freely on this post! This can be handwaved or played out, your choice!

UPDATE: Lance and Maul's battle in the streets will only last a handful of hours and the damage will be on two mostly parallel streets in Prufrock leading to The Gate. Once Lance sees the path to the Gate is clear, he will launch himself and Maul to the gate to resume the fight in the arena where it is away from others. The fight will then last for the remainder of the 3 day period in the arena.

(She will almost certainly try to involve herself, but if the both of them shoo her away and insist that this is between them, she'll get exasperated about their idiocy and go wait for Reaper to wake up with a stick to poke at his squid. Her involvement will probably be limited to network posts for simplicity's sake if that's ok.)

And that's more than ok, I personally don't have any expectations of anyone to get super involved, it's just a hard fight to miss and there's a number of hero types in town etc haha.

Deku lives on the NW edge of Crenshaw, which borders Prufrock. Whenever the damage ramps up, Deku will go to Prufrock and do evac. I'm open to handwaving OR playing out characters being saved/evacuated or helping him out with that. His priority is preservation of life. That could be a good reason not to get directly involved in the fight, as that would leave innocent bystanders defenseless. Because I am painfully aware of Deku's track record for sticking his nose where it don't belong.

His tentative plan is to get people to Crenshaw and protect that neighborhood with his life. Who needs sleep anyway?

Sorry for your sleep loss Deku! There may be open prompts you can choose from when we put up the log if you want to directly interact with the situation, but handwaving is a-ok too. I don't have any expectations of anyone re: involvement, so pressure is completely off, no worries, we're mainly attempting to be courteous to everyone else and are down to incorporate other ppl if they think their characters would try to get involved <3. Do what you find most fun!

Fern won't try to stop either of them when he realizes why Maul is attacking, not when he's been through that kind of pain himself. Go Maul go, indulge in those terrible feelings and wreak vengeance!!

He'll be available to help prevent bystanders from getting hurt though, since they've got nothing to do with this.

But that sounds good! Lance for one will be grateful he's helping to keep ppl from getting hurt, there's only so much he can do on his own to minimize damage.

Yeah, Fern's going to very much be like 'this is legit' at Lance wanting to get revenge on Reaper, and Maul wanting to get revenge on Lance (in fact, Grass Demon is probably going to be like HELLS YEAH GO APESHIT because that's how he rolls), but his Finn side will be concerned about possible civilian casualties, so at the very least he can help out there.

Fern still remembers that! We could totally have it come up between them. That would be kind of hilarious, since he still assumes it was some random Deerington monster and not an actual Sleeper.

He won't be getting involved in any actual fighting but oh boy will he have some things to say about all this insanity to them. Can you guys keep it together for one month? He wants a goddamn nap.

Ruby's unavailable on the 31st but after that I'd be up for her either getting caught in the crossfire, helping people out of the crossfire or stopping people from getting involved.

I think we're leaning on trying to prevent sleeper casualties, but if you want her to get injured I'm sure we can discuss it as a group. I'll poke Shade to let them know too! But helping to keep civilians clear etc. is also very appreciated!

I'm a-okay with some superficial wounding! I've scarred her up enough that I'm not looking to do anything serious to her at the moment. I'd be game if she got injured trying to pull someone else out of danger in some way. Whether directing stopping them from getting involved in the main fight or avoiding bailing someone out of property a property damage collapse.

I'd say a handwave might be easier for this but if anyone wants their character saved or prevented from getting into the brawl keep me posted and we can thread that out.

Permission for Wesker to step in as a Healer? Ruby and he met briefly in Deer Chap1 when he requested her services to shape a sword from one of the November bones he'd found. Perhaps a reunion is in order (also, he could use the practice in improving his bedside manner).

How do you feel about Ruby maybe saving him from some sort of hazard caused by the fight (Whether he would actually have needed the help or not. She's a dumb action girl and tends to act before thinking) and then have him help out healing wise from there?

Also if he's collecting blood he can definitely nab some cold blood off her.

Oh man, that would primo! He'd be rather mortified at being the one saved, but he'd get over that pretty quickly: the chance to work some Blood Ministry and maybe nab a blood sample as well would outrun any miffed feelings.

Eh, he's failed at getting revenge on Sidious after he killed both his brother AND mother, so this is really on par for him. Maul is just doomed to failure.

No sleeper/PC casualties will be happening, but so far there is one injury if that works!

Luz will not be happy that her Darth Maul is back in rage mode, nor that one of her fellow housemates (that she never sees but the PRINCIPAL) has been killed. So she'll be trying to help both of them, especially when Darth Maul is that the house likely looking over Reaper.

Also, when Varian inevitably makes a hamster ball type apparatus for Reaper, Luz will be playing with it.

queeeestion for bystanders! Is this gonna be obviously a case of Lance having a chance (ahaha, internal rhyme) to kill Maul but refraining, or are these two dudes just too evenly matched for either to get in a killing blow?

It will be obvious that Lance doesn't want to kill Maul but also that there is a big difference in combat skill and experience.

Maul will clearly have much more skill and experience with combat, particularly with his saber. Lance on the other hand has powerful abilities that can incinerate the chunks of debris that Maul hauls at him with the force, but he does have limits with endurance and hasn't had a whole lot of practice using them. Lance will be keeping his distance from Maul and using plasma/energy constructs to shield himself and rocket himself away if he needs to. It'll be obvious that Lance is actively just trying to defend and contain Maul/keep him focused on him.

If bystanders are watching in the handful of hours where they are in the streets in Prufrock on the first day, OR if they are watching in the arena on the last 2.75-ish days, it will be obvious in both settings as the arena can have stuff for Maul to throw at Lance too.
