The energy coursed through him now. He hopped easily out of the well, covered in a thick layer of mud and brine, looking like something dragged out of the marsh. His side was splotched in a wet, rusty red. He smelled tar.
"Crap--Without thinking--!" he answered her question. "I'm sorry! Keep her in there!"
With super strength came super speed, and he dashed over to where the lid had fallen, trying to make up for the time he'd lose doing so. With a strangled yell, he pulled it from the dirt and ran back with it hoisted over his shoulder. He didn't know this person, but if his assessment that Ruby could hold her own proved true, he'd be able to slam the heavy lid back on and trap this thing.
