Midoriya looked around. It was too much to hope that his homeroom teacher was somewhere here. (Though, really, he'd only erase his Quirk with no warning if he was causing trouble.) He was waterlogged, but otherwise unhurt, so he ruled out the possibility of being hit with anything else that could erase his Quirk. The only thing he noticed was something round and dull-colored floating in the water next to his elbow, something that looked suspiciously like a human skull...
His head snapped up when he heard a noise above and saw their light quickly disappearing. It confirmed his worst-case scenario, that someone was sealing victims in here forever, that skull being the remains of one of them.
