The memories of who this is are coming back piece by piece, not enough for him to really make sense of the question, but there is a sense of understanding. An ah, yes, of course. Of course he'd ask that. Of course. It's sadness and empathy and compassion all at once, tainted by that wild loneliness that had consumed him last November, when there was someone else in his head.
Last November, Will would've given anything to be able to curl up and have someone pet his hair and tell him it was okay and tell him a story. So, even though it's weird, he doesn't pull away or immediately make excuses to leave.
Instead he keeps patting gently at the older boy's hair, and says in his best imitating-Mike-as-a-DM voice:] Okay. So, once upon a time, there was this...travelling party of heroes...
[So he talks, retelling one of the first campaigns they'd had, with the four of them, Mike the Paladin, Will the Cleric, Dustin the Barbarian and Lucas the Ranger. It's clearly derived from Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings meets comic books, lots of dramatic twists and epic showdowns.]
