Akira

[ Continued from here! ]

[ Run, or fight.

It is a choice as old as time, and one Flynn's been faced with many times in equally dire straits. At least before he had six lone knights and the knowledge that they had chosen to be there with him, to defend the people of Hypionia to their last. He had armor, and a sword, and less-shaky artes.

Here, he has a robe, kind of, and he is dizzy and shaky-limbed, and they are trying to escape. He has only just woken up here and he led Akira into this. Death is not an option here: Flynn cannot just doom them both.

Run, or fight.

Or, Flynn realizes, gritting his teeth, both.

He straightens up, determination running through his body like lightning, stiffening his limbs.

I will distract it. As soon as the spell goes off, run. I'll be right behind you.

[ The words ring with confidence, bouncing off dripping stone as the thing burbles horribly in front of them, its legs clicking as it shifts closer over sea-slick rock. Light shines beyond it.

The thing about being made Commandant in the middle of a crisis is that Flynn, suddenly, was thrust to dizzying heights of power, far faster and far greater than he'd ever dreamed. He is terrified on a bad day and tired on a good one, and still he has to project a calm and confidence because the only thing worse than not knowing what to do is making it clear that you don't know what to do.

All this to say: Flynn Scifo is very, very good at sounding calm and confident in the face of anything the world throws at him.

Even if he's about fifty percent sure he won't actually be able to make it out.
]

As soon as the light flares, alright? You must run. Straight forward. I don't believe we'll get another chance.

[ He's already starting the chant, light flaring up in a spell circle under his feet, visible this time. ]
