The Fated Leviathan Returns - Open Player Plot
Last year, a group of Sleepers took on a great leviathan that crawled out from the depths of the sea. The lonely creature, who had lost their beloved over and over again, in many worlds, in many timelines, was drawn to the Trench. The ensuing battle took the lives of many Sleepers but in the end, they were victorious. They confined the endless creature to a single point in time and space and killed it.
Now, the remnants of the encampment and the battle have been all but washed away by the sea.
But is something gone if memories remain? Can two things that were one ever be truly separated?
Suddenly, Sleepers, even those who were not present for the battle, have found themselves waking up near the sea, where the corpse of the leviathan rests beneath the depths, certain they were called there by someone they left behind...
The Plot
This is a follow up to a player plot run byterriblepurpose last spring. You do not have to have participated in the previous plot to join this one! It is open to everyone!
For those unfamiliar or who need a quick refresher, here is a run down:

How it starts
During the battle, Kaworu Nagisa was possessed and consumed by the Leviathan and became forever intertwined with it. Now, as people start to reflect on the battle that took place a year ago, the remnants in his mind become fixed and realized within the trench. Parts of its corpse begin to shift beneath the sea.
The Leviathan is lonely, empty and wants to fill the hole left by the loss of thousands of loved ones across space and time.
The only way to fill the hole is to consume.
What happens
Part one
Characters will begin to hear the voice of loved ones that they left behind in their homeworld. The voices insist that the character has been lost for some time and needs to return home. Characters who hear the voice and follow it will find themselves on the beach, at the site of the Leviathan battle, with little memory of how they got there.
As the Leviathan’s power grows, characters will also start to see their loved one in the distance, waiting for them, always in the direction of the beach.
The further they wade into the ocean, the more intertwined with the Leviathan they become. Their interest in their life in the trench starts to fade away, replaced by an overwhelming desire to be with the person, or people, they are missing back home.
Part Two
Eventually, Kaworu is taken by the Leviathan into the sea in order to drown his soul for good. His friends are able to figure out where he’s gone and pursue him, and those drawn in by the Leviathan, to the site of the battle.
Pieces of the Leviathan corpse have been reanimated and attempt to prevent anyone from taking back Kaworu or other taken characters. Those that want to escape the Leviathan’s pull or those that want to save taken characters must fight!
The Leviathan exists across space and time and can take on many forms. It may appear to be an aquatic monster from another canon or even the waterlogged corpse of someone a character knows. It wants to scare people away from interfering. It doesn’t want its new beloved people to be taken away. It may even puppet those who have truly given themselves to the Leviathan to fight against their friends.
How it ends
Eventually, Kiriona Gaia or Gideon Nav, uses her bond to locate Kaworu who is at the center of the sunken corpse of the Leviathan, and subsequently learns via Kaworu’s connection to the Leviathan that it is deeply lonely. Kiriona, realizing that Kaworu will be lost completely to the Leviathan, takes it upon herself to save him by offering the Leviathan companionship. The Leviathan releases Kaworu as Gideon takes its hand and they both disappear into the depths.
Those possessed are saved and are able to return back to the Trench.
How to get involved
Anyone can have their character respond to the call of the Leviathan and can incorporate it into your playing however you wish. There will also be a log that people can use as a catch all to post their involvement for ease.

- Despite the valiant efforts of all involved and the eventual defeat of the beast, the costs were high and the casualties great.
- Kaworu Nagisa was possessed by the fated beast after making contact with its soul, which allowed it to leak into his. He was freed in by his own death and the death of the Leviathan

Character Name: Ezra Bridger
Possible involvement ideas: Well, Ezra also had vision of the Leviathan and tried to connect empathic to it! It did not go well, but not as badly. Here's his commentary after the fact: link. I think it makes sense for him to pick on the Leviathan's presence and/or work out the Leviathan in the source of the voices pretty quickly? And that it's lonely would be...fairly obvious to him, tbh. He always felt bad for it, it just couldn't be allowed to wreak havoc on Trench. He doesn't have much CR with Kaworu or Gideon, otoh, which makes linking up to the rest of the plot a little harder.

Character Name: Izuku "Deku" Midoriya
Possible involvement ideas: I'm already threading out a big flashy anime fight earlier this month, so I'm leaning towards something different, more personal and internal, more quietly horror. E.g. he'll want to speak with Kaworu, and that will be all kinds of unsettling. Give his angel boyfriend back!! Ideas for Deku:
-attempting to talk people/leviathan back to themselves
-injuring himself to [redacted] a possession (idk if it will work but it's fun)
-assisting with tracking (he does not have this skill himself, just [redacted] that helps with the interdimensional dangers)
Anything else: All threads will contain spoilers. Deku was heavily involved in Leviathan Battle Original Flavor, and he never really allowed himself closure. However, threading character development and playerplot activities are more important to me than straight briefing/infodumping. I want leitmotifs to play in minor key...

Possible involvement ideas:
Paul and the Leviathan Spiderman pointing at each other on the beachPaul will be involved trying to, once again, drive the Leviathan back into the sea and stop it from devouring the people he cares about, because you can't have shit in Trench. I plan on mostly using him as a support character for other plotting, with a focus on reaching out to people ensnared, trying to get to Kaworu and Gideon, protecting people as best he can, and using his new time loop powers in ways that are t̶o̵t̷a̴l̸l̶y̴ ̶f̷i̸n̷e̶.
Anything else: This is the most Evacore they're ever gotten.

Character Name: anakin skywalker
Possible involvement ideas: anakin is going to get ~*~possessed~*~. the leviathan wants to scare off people and between its reach over time and space and anakin's own darkblood powers, we're going to end up with darth vader making an appearance. however as anakin is being puppeteered it'll have all of his physical skills, but none of his edge so to speak. the fear, anger, hate, suffering normally associated with vader will be entirely missing.
haven't decided if i want to free him through death or power of friendship or simply because time runs out and the event ends.

Character Name: lucius artorius castus (aka askeladd)
Possible involvement ideas: lucius's deeply ingrained suspicion of everything and his guilt over getting a new life here when his mom hasn't are going to be at war during this! he will be turning up on the beach every day because he hears his mother's voice but will resist actually going in the water because this is in fact also sketchy as heck. so instead he'll just get more corrupted as things go along! this is fine.
his level of corruption will influence how both he and his omen react to others. crucially, at a lower level he'll actually be more friendly and talk to people more about what they're up to (keep your enemies closer). he'll get more withdrawn as it gets worse, but that will get his omen emrys trying to get other people to engage him. so if your character needs to be snapped out of things or just generally pestered by a 13 year old and/or gyrfalcon they will be available! and possibly eventually fighting corpse beasts.

Possible involvement ideas: Luca will be hearing and then seeing Alberto and his family from the direction of the ocean. Unfortunately, since he has a particular advantage when it comes to going out into the ocean, he'll end up extremely entwined with and eventually be possessed by the Leviathon.
Anything else: Have fun fighting a fish child that spits venom!

Anything else: Here's here for hero duties! That means saving people, protecting them by fighting baddies, anything you need. Since Deku is involved, he'll definitely be on this!

Character Name: Anna Amarande
Possible involvement ideas: well anna's definitely gonna be on the beach to bid farewell to griddle. she wants to protect people from the leviathan but she's so tired and she doesn't know how to fight this anymore. hell, she's not even going to bring her sword with her.
Anything else: she has absolutely no idea what she can do anymore except keep living for the people who are with her. this is gonna be another emotional low point for her that might result in more obvious elements of corruption (have fun finding her by following the mysterious trail of black feathers shedding from her body). she will not be fun to be around.
Johnny Lawrence | Cobra Kai
Character Name: Johnny Lawrence
Possible involvement ideas: Probably fighting Leviathan bits! Willing to have him get possessed or save others as well. He got killed by the Leviathan the first time around and isn't a huge fan of it. Another Rocky song will probably play as he tries to give it a piece of his mind.

Character Name: Tinya Wazzo and Lexi Howard
Possible involvement ideas: I want Tinya to be tormented by voices, her husband, her son, and her mother, her grandmother. And her nemesis. Once she finds out it's because of an outside influence, she'll join the fight with a combination of a fully functional Legion Flight Ring and Coldblood powers which she's absolutely willing to bring to bear.
As for fight with beasties, I offer Lexi Howard. She's determined to not let any such occasions pass without a response from herself and she's a Darkblood, verging on a very powerful Darkblood. According to the blood descriptions, she'll be in fine form. She already has a thorough mastery of telekinesis and slowing time, what I want from her is the ability to bend time to send others to her own personal hell--East Highland High.

Character Name: Peter Graham
Possible involvement ideas: Peter doesn't have anyone left back home whose voices he could hear, but I would love for him to be a support role for others / help save someone else from a watery fate. This would be especially meaningful because last year, he was influenced by The Reckoning to return to the ocean and was rescued by Ange Ushiromiya and Pyrrha Dve. However, that influence was bred from feelings that were already there in Peter, as he's been dealing with suicidal ideation for several years, so it definitely.... has a layered meaning to him. Meaning that his attempts to save someone else would be very closely aligned with his thoughts there (he will be directly perceiving this as people attempting to kill themselves, and my introspection will inevitably reflect that).
Anything else: If it wasn't obvious already, this would be extremely heavy, and so I need to give a heads up that suicidal themes, ideation, heavy depression, etc. will be a part of Peter's involvement — whether in his introspection or perhaps if they're actually voiced, depending on how a thread might go down. I'm most interested in him trying to talk someone down or protect them from advancing, or maybe fight off some corpses to rescue them. I'm flexible and down to indulge, so please lmk if you might be interested!

Possible involvement ideas: My main idea here is for Oscar to see his friends struggling and try to take the proactive approach for once. That is: he's going to attempt to communicate with the Leviathan on it's own turf, and submerge himself while trying to connect with it via his Paleblood abilities.
This will more than likely fail. He's just a guy, after all. Even if he is a wizard.
Anything else: He's nearing 3 years in the Jamjar and has a birthday at the end of April. I'm totally okay with some light Voring, possible Possession, and potentially setting the stage for a to-be-drafted blood type change in the future.

Character Name: Jin Guangyao
Possible involvement ideas: the person most important to Jin Guangyao who is still alive is already here with him in Trench (hi Lan Xichen), but I thought I might subject him to some additional psychological torture by having him hear his mother calling out for his help. this, coupled with Nie Huaisang's recent departure from Trench leaving much of their story without closure, could be enough to make him heed the Leviathan's call, even if when he's in his right mind he knows it's a catastrophically stupid thing to do.
This would primarily be a means of deepening jgy's existing CR and presenting them with opportunities to fight for each other. I probably won't have jgy become fully possessed by the Leviathan; his closest CR will manage to get through to him and pull him back from the brink.
