[He looks at the house with a soft expression. Pride and clearly a little sadness at the fact that this is his daily reminder of the life he once had. But he tries to shove all those feelings aside as he looks over at the surprise etched across the other man's face.]

The place I was at before this one used to give gifts. As bad as it was, sometimes it was also generous. It was his wish to have it there and because of the efforts we put forth we were given a home away from home.

[But that wasn't the whole story. The sacrifices they made in order to have such extravagances were great. But in the end it was worth it. He can hear Lil' Apple bray in the background as if calling for the black stallion that is taking an afternoon nap in the barn. Familiar sounds that greet him every time he returns to this home even if he doesn't have the companion he truly desires to see to do the same.]

And when I arrived here...the house came with me. As well as everything else. A strange blessing all things considered...
