"Should you accomplish changing the form you remember, be that as simple as removing a scar or as complex as keeping additional limbs, I would be curious," Mayerling comments. Whatever their desires, Mayerling doubts that changing themselves is an easy feat. Already he knows that he still burns in sunlight and desires human blood. He avoids the sun and, as ever, actively holds himself back from that urge. If only he could alter those, most importantly the latter, he would.

He gracefully leaps from square to square, eyes ever ahead. "It resembles chess," Mayerling answers, "the pattern moves like a knight. The squares are not be limited during the game itself, but training includes many exercises under greater restraints, such as completing some task in the fewest moves possible."

He pauses a moment to shrug. "Unusual and alternating architecture has become something of a pattern." His time on the promenade has let him observe others in a friendly fashion, but no matter where he might go or come from, Mayerling finds himself allowing extra time not only for a new place but for these odd passages.
