Adam visibly startled, blinking over at the cat-eared young man. He didn't remember him, but then again he wasn't exactly known for being social.
He gives him a wry smile.
"Then I guess you know what to expect. It's not as bad as Deerington was, but it's not great either." He thinks on that last question for a moment. His home was war-torn, invaded by a literal alien species. And then he died. It's hard to go down-hill from there, but if any place managed it, this place did. But...
"I don't know if I'd call it an upgrade," He admitted, "But there are benefits to being here instead of home. My husband is here, for one." There, that was safe and non-traumatic. The last thing he wanted to do was upset this obviously abused kid with the "I'm dead" speech.
