"They're cruel everywhere," he retorted and then looked away, blushing, clearing his throat. There was no reason for him to unload his opinions on some relative stranger. He looked back to her.
"Thank you for your concern even though we just met," he inclined his head. "You don't have to worry about me, though." He rather she didn't, it was easier, if ultimately lonelier.
