He thinks of how his mind will latch onto moments from his childhood when stimulated by the right sensations, wearing a deep groove in his mind thinking about how Sidious would shock him with Force Lightning to force obedience from his apprentice.
Eventually, it wasn't even just the act itself, painful as it was. It also had to do with the reminder of what it all represented, the terror and helplessness that Maul felt as a young boy, scared out of his mind as he tried so hard and kept failing to keep his master from hurting him for no reason other than pure sadism.]
Can any warrior become afflicted with this? Not just soldiers?
