Iskandar will go exploring the strange water trails at the first moment he's got the chance to do so. Doubly so when he realizes he can breathe underwater.
So if Victor needs some armed protection on his research quest, Iskandar would be more than happy to go with him. He has no research goal himself, he's just curious what's down there.
