[Maria strikes blindly, again and again and again. Some of them miss, but most of them hit. For all that her strength and comfort with wielding a sword are evident, the hits are sloppy, though. It would be easy to blame it on the very valid fact that she can't look at her target, but in truth it may have more to do with the disorientation she's often felt since washing ashore.
It isn't that this strange land feels so strange to her. That it doesn't is something that unnerves her mind even if she can't truly feel. But there are so many other oddities here, enough unfamiliarity to keep her off balance, that giving in to violence against a beast that surely deserves it is more satisfying than she would have guessed.
