Dipper had honestly forgotten they were even there. That's a crazy thing to think, since they were literally growing out of his head, but Dipper is incredibly desensitized to Trench's nonsense by now. Once he realizes what he's doing, he laughs and follows after him.

Given what he just explained, the shop keeper is unsurprisingly thrilled by being presented with fresh herbs. She will take them and tell him he can have a pair, sure, and something else too, if he likes, since he handed over two.
