ezra_of_lothal: (Ezra eyebrow raised by redacreuse)

"I don't understand what you mean about not being a part of society. We're...people. Unless we choose to go off to be a hermit, of course we're connected to other people. Part of a community," Ezra replied, puzzled.

He gathered his thoughts for a few seconds. "Ok, for one thing, Jedi are both a group and individuals with their own evolving interpretations of traditions and teachings, like any other culture. There's been, what, millions of us over thousands of years? My answers might not match what the others here say. Kanan, my first teacher, always taught me that connections to other living beings are important. It's Obi-wan - or a Obi-wan-" My Obi-wan, he didn't say, because that was attachment, and that possessiveness and hurt from loss, that was something he needed to work through.

"He's who taught me about letting go of attachment, using exactly that word, and it's not really the same thing as what Kanan meant by connection. I'll admit, it isn't exactly an easy concept, and definitely not easy to live. Also - I believe Kanan did his best to live up to that teaching, and passed the basic idea on to me, even if he didn't use the exact same words. But I can see how some strict temple raised Jedi might disagree."

He paused there, partly because he knew he was meandering, and partly to see Ariadne's responses. If she had questions, or just wanted to drop the topic and move on.
