Luz happened to find the frog in the ice, and luckily it was her Pale Blood powers that told her that he just needed to be thawed. Wasting no time, Luz cast her fire glyph and kept it at a nice, even burn so that the ice would melt slow enough that he'd be free.

Once he's nice and thawed, Luz sticks her head in the tent and heard his query.
